Step away from the splash pad, humans. It’s your dogs’ turn to cool down.
On designated days this October, South Florida water parks will offer a bounty of splashy fun for your furball. The timing coincides with the annual shutdown of water playgrounds after the summer, as water parks and public pools across Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties close to the public for off-season maintenance and repairs.
These water parks will feature plenty of pooch-themed activities, including splash time, games and treats. Be sure to bring a collar, leash, proof of current vaccinations and a county license tag to all parks.

Your canine probably doesn’t care that the Venetian Pool, a freshwater fantasy island carved into an old rock quarry, sits on the National Registry of Historic Places. But you will be grateful for the pool’s 800,000 gallons of harmless, chlorine-free water, supplied by an underground aquifer, along with the pool’s coral rock caves, palms and neoclassical touches. Only 200 tickets ($11) will be sold. Small dogs (30 pounds or less) can play from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., while larger dogs (31 pounds and up) can play from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.
