Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The skills you develop to be successful in volleyball translate to so many other facets of life. It teaches us strategy, adaptation, perseverance, and the importance of being mindful in the roles we play in life. Being on a team instills values of teamwork, leadership, discipline, and respect for opponents. We learn to balance aggression with restraint, confidence with humility, and ambition with sportsmanship.
Being a student-athlete preparing for college is challenging, and this project aims to empower our team to be at its best through a mindful practice of yoga, daily fitness routines, visualization, meditation, and volleyball drills.
We are requesting volleyballs and a practice net station, yoga mats, medical kits, a cart, and other resources for our program.
As a former player, now coaching the game that gave so much to me, watching it change the lives of a new generation of students is what drives me in my 20th year running both girl's and boy's volleyball teams. Our program now has five teams, teaching the game of volleyball each year to 40 girls and 30 boys.
