Valheim Chopping Block is a workbench upgrade you can get. The chopping block will most likely be the second upgrade you come across, and here's how to get it and what it does.

Valheim Chopping Block: How to Craft

You'll unlock the ability to craft a chopping block after you get Wood and Flint. Flint is somewhat rare in the early game, but your best chances of finding some is to look along shallow water. You need 10 of each to craft it. Workbench upgrades in Valheim are placed together, rather than being one workbench that has better capabilities.

With the chopping block, your workbench level goes up by one. You'll be able to upgrade your tools by one level for each workbench upgrade you have.

The order of which you place the workbench upgrades does not matter, as long as they're together. For example, if you somehow skip the chopping block and make the tanning rack, you'll only increase the level by one. Building the chopping block in this example would level it up again. Look out for the "New Station Level" pop up when you place the upgrade down to make sure your bench has been leveled up properly.
