A car crash on U.S. 27 killed two women and hospitalized two men, according to Broward Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Michael Kane.
The four were inside a Toyota Corolla and collided with an 18-wheel truck shortly before 3:30 p.m. on northbound U.S. 27 at Mile Marker 35, just north of Interstate 75, said Lt. Indiana Miranda, a spokesperson for the Florida Highway Patrol.
All four in the Corolla appeared to be in their early 20s, Kane said. The men were taken to Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale.
Miranda said the two who were hospitalized have life-threatening injuries. The truck driver was not injured.
Northbound lanes on U.S. 27 remained closed about 6 p.m., and Snake Road or State Road 80 were alternatives.
