Neo Fortnite: What Does Neo Mean?

Neo Fortnite is the talk of the internet this week as Epic Games continues to tease the next Fortnite season. But what does Neo mean?

Fortnite Season 9 is set to start Thursday after an in-game event from the weekend caused the volcano to erupt and destroy multiple locations on the map. Included were Tilted Towers, Retail Row, Polar Peak and more. The Drum Gun was also unvaulted during the event.

The three teasers for Season 9 have teased a futuristic theme. Here's everything we know about the Neo Fortnite trend.

Neo Fortnite: What Does Neo Mean?

Fans decrypted, if it can even be called that, the message 'NEO' from the Season 9 teasers. There are essentially two logical directions this message could go in.

Either the message is incomplete and the final announcement tweet Thursday could finish. Possibly another 'n' and create "NEON." Or, it might mean that the theme is neo-noir a la Blade Runner or something.

To further put evidence toward the futuristic neo-noir theme, the captions for each teaser have hinted at said theme.

The captions are "The Future is Unknown. The Future is Bright. The Future is Tilted." Maybe it means a new lease on life for Fortnite, a game some have called stale recently. The final caption possibly hints at Tilted Towers being reborn into a futuristic landmark.

Fortnite Season 9 is set to start on all platforms Thursday.
