Today Mojang and Microsoft are hosting Minecraft Live and are providing a look at what players can expect from the super-popular game.

Besides the fact that the game will come to Xbox Game Pass for PC, we start with the announcement of a delay. The new features related to the Deep Dark that were slated for the (already delayed) second part of the “Caves and Cliffs” update coming this winter have been spun out into the next update coming in 2022.

We get the confirmation that the new features of the Caves and Cliffs update Part II will blend with existing worlds and the new caves will also be generated under the tiles that you have already explored.

In Caves & Cliffs: Part II you’ll reach stunning new heights and discover deeper ways to hit rock bottom – quite literally!

Our new world generation will be the perfect playground for your magnificent builds, wondrous adventures, and spectacular stories!

Is it time to play Spot the Difference? Nope! These Java and Bedrocks seeds are so similar that even the sharpest eyes would have trouble winning this game!

The update will launch at the same time on the Bedrock & Java Editions and it’ll support seed parity between the two editions, meaning that words generated with the same seed will look almost the same regardless of which Minecraft you play.

Speaking of the next update that will come after Caves & Cliffs, titled “The Wild Update.”

Besides the aforementioned Deep Dark, it’ll focus on nature. The Deep Dark will receive ancient cities. We also get to see the Warden, who will emerge from underground and has developed a sense of smell. It won’t just go by hearing.

We couldn’t resist giving you another look at the Deep Dark together with some new unseen features!

At least sneaking will give you a creeper’s chance against the terror of this new biome, the Warden!

The update will add more atmosphere to the various biomes, and the Swamp will get an overhaul.

Among the new features, there will be a boat with a chest in it to carry items quickly on the water. The Mangrove tree will also be added, alongside its dedicated new wood type. It’ll include a full building set.

Grab your best friend, a treasure map, and your trusty old boat… But what’s this? Now that trusty-old boat can have a trusty-new chest to carry all that loot from all those adventures!

We’re going back to our roots! Sadly that doesn’t mean we’re reverting to Minecraft Version 1.0.0 but we are introducing the rootiest of trees: mangroves!

But where can I root out these newest of trees, we hear you cry!? In our newest of biomes, of course, the Mangrove Swamp!

Another addition is renewable mud which can turn into clay, alongside mud bricks.

You can actually play in the mud without being told off! You’ll find mud blocks in swamp biomes, but why not make your own, just add water to dirt!

Mud has other uses too; let it drip dry to make clay, or add sand and wheat into the mix to craft clay bricks!

As for mobs, we’re getting the addition of frogs, tadpoles, and fireflies. Incidentally, fireflies will serve as food for the frogs. Different variants of frogs will exist and tadpoles will become a variant depending on where they mature.

Ribbit! That’s no frog in our throat, but it is the sound of the newest mob to take up residence in swamp biomes – frogs!

We're also adding tadpoles! So tiny, so cute, so in tune with their surroundings!

We also hear that the community-voted mob to be added with The Wild Update is the Allay.

And your winning mob is… the Allay! Woohoo, cookies – or any other items – for all!
