Dolphins (10-4) vs. Cowboys (10-4), Sunday, 4:25 p.m., Fox

Latest line: Dolphins are favored by 1 point

Dave Hyde, Sports Columnist (Season record 10-4): Dolphins 30, Cowboys 23

Two seasons have a lot of similarities from the NFL’s two highest-scoring offenses to not playing as well away from home. Three of the Dolphins’ four losses are away from Hard Rock Stadium. Dallas is unbeaten at home and 3-4 on the road. Don’t overthink this. The Dolphins are home. Both teams play excellent defense. Miami is No. 5 in total defense (293.4 yards allowed per game) and Dallas is No. 6 (294.3 ypg allowed), so it should be a close game.

Chris Perkins, Dolphins Columnist (Season record 9-5): Cowboys 27, Dolphins 24

We could be watching a Super Bowl preview, but these are similarly flawed teams (can’t consistently beat quality teams, especially on the road). Miami is 12-3 under coach Mike McDaniel at Hard Rock Stadium. One trend will be beaten and I’m going to say Dallas, for now, shows it can silence the doubters. The Dolphins’ health could be an issue, but they have the more dangerous lead receiver (Tyreek Hill) and the more dangerous receiving duo overall.

David Furones, Dolphins Writer (Season record 11-3): Dolphins 27, Cowboys 24

I say, with Tyreek Hill back in the lineup, Miami has plenty of explosiveness in the offense, and although Dak Prescott and the Dallas offense do plenty of damage, the Dolphins defense builds off its shutout against the Jets with enough stops. Cowboys edge rusher Micah Parsons needs to be contained, and a big part of that will be a heavy dose of the run game after Dallas just gave up 266 yards on the ground to James Cook and the Buffalo Bills.

Kathy Laughlin, Sports Editor (Season record 11-3): Dolphins 28, Cowboys 24

It’s a battle of pretty closely matched 10-4 teams. Dallas was just beaten soundly by Buffalo, and the Cowboys haven’t lost two games in a row since November 2021. They will come back determined, just as the Dolphins did after their embarrassing loss against the Titans on Dec. 11. It’s encouraging for Miami that Tyreek Hill will likely be mended enough to play. Maybe, like real estate, it comes down to location, location, location: All of the Cowboys’ four losses have come on the road, and the Dolphins only have one loss at home (that collapse to the Titans, still fresh in their minds).

Keven Lerner, Assistant Sports Editor (Season record 12-2): Dolphins 23, Cowboys 20

The Dolphins and Cowboys have dominated lesser competition in building 10-4 records. But both teams have struggled against quality teams. Miami hasn’t beaten a team that currently has a winning record. Dallas has beaten one team that currently has a winning record. The difference is the Cowboys’ road woes. They are 7-0 at home, averaging 39.3 points per game. But they are just 3-4 on the road, averaging 21.7 points a game. The Dolphins have the slight edge playing at Hard Rock Stadium.

Steve Svekis, Assistant Sports Editor (Season record 8-6): Dolphins 20, Cowboys 17

The Miami defense is the difference-making unit here, against an offense that has struggled when playing on a grass field (averaging 17.7 points per game this season). The Dolphins offense, seeing James Cook pound Dallas for 179 rushing yards on more than 7 yards a carry, should be able to gash the Cowboys. The potential negatives? The Dolphins’ passing game has fallen off to 238 yards per game in the past six contests, and the injury bug has been a constant.
