A man rented a gun and killed himself at a Central Florida gun range Wednesday night, a little more than a week after another man did the same thing at a gun range in Palm Beach County, authorities say.
Two other people have committed suicide at ranges in Central Florida since April.
An unidentified man died Wednesday night after renting a gun and shooting himself at Rieg’s Gun Shop on South Orange Blossom Trail, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said the man rented a gun for target practice.
After firing at targets, he turned the gun on himself about 6:40 p.m., shooting himself in the head, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The man was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
On June 23, a Canadian man killed himself after renting a gun at Delray Shooting Center.
Danny Kenney, 41, of Laval, Quebec, had gone to the range, rented a revolver and fired several hundred rounds, police said.
Police say he waited for two other patrons to leave before shooting himself in the head.
Also last month, a woman was injured when she tried to shoot herself at East Orange Shooting Sports, east of Winter Park.
She rented a handgun, filled out paperwork, including answering questions about having no mental-health problems or other conditions that would preclude her from shooting safely, the manager said after the shooting.
On April 5, an Altamonte Springs woman with a history of mental problems fatally shot her 20-year-old son and then herself at Shoot Straight in Casselberry.
He died at the scene and she died at Florida Hospital Altamonte.
Three weeks later, a 26-year-old committed suicide at the same range.
