A 1-year-old Lauderdale Lakes girl is recovering after a fall from a third-floor window at the Cambridge Square Apartments, Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue said.
“The child either leaned up [against] or pushed the screen on the window and fell out,” spokesman Mike Jachles said.
The girl was playing with siblings, ages two and five, on a bed next to the window, he said.
Her mother was sleeping with a five-month-old sibling in another room and her father was in the kitchen when the girl fell out the window and landed in some bushes about 10 a.m. Friday, Jachles said.
“Apparently that broke her fall,” he said. A passer-by brought the child upstairs at 3840 NW 21st St. and the family called 911.
The girl did not have any injuries but she was kept at Broward Health Medical Center overnight Friday for observation, Jachles said.
No charges were filed, but the Department of Children and Families is expected to visit the home and investigate, he said.
