“Hot Tub Time Machine” makes use of simple, but still funny, jokes while making parodies of the current generation.

That’s not to say it is a bad movie, but it isn’t great. It is a funny comedy, but only for select audiences.

One major aspect is its use of toilet humor in almost every other joke. Personally, I love toilet humor, but I know many who do not.

If you enjoy it, you’ll most likely love this movie. But if not…

Since the main characters travel back in tiem to the 1980s, this movie has plenty of era-specific jokes that not everyone will get. Hopefully you remember cassette players, Motley Crue and the Soviet Union, because you need to know them for many of the jokes.

Quite a few of the jokes were just vulgar and inappropriate. They sported some good humor but could easily offend some of the touchier of audiences. A couple of the times in the film it tended to be a bit too much and unnecessary however.

There happens to bit quite a bit of humor in the movie that was a tad unique and just silly. Such as little inside jokes that yield no explanation but just happen to be set up just right for some laughter.

The movie sported some occasional cool special effects but for the most part they were pretty cheesy and obvious yet acceptable for a movie of such quality.

What they did manage to pull off gloriously was the look of the 80s. It felt like the cast actually traveled back in time in order to film the movie in an authentic ski resort at that time.

If you enjoyed titles such as “Superbad” and ” Pineapple Express” you’ll surely love “Hot Tub Time Machine”. If you didn’t then you may want to skip out on this film. If you’re unsure, check it out; it was an enjoyable and funny movie.
