PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. (WJLA) — Traffic was backed up on a busy highway near Washington, D.C. after a helicopter fell off a semi that was transporting it to a new location.

A privately-owned helicopter that was being hauled along I-495 slipped off the transport vehicle as it traveled down the road, briefly closing a merge lane and shoulder.

A spokesperson with Prince George's County Fire Department said no units were dispatched. Maryland Department of Transportation data showed the lanes were reopened a short time later once the helicopter was situated back onto the semi that was hauling it.
