It was a tough start to the season for the Deerfield Beach football team. The Bucks lost three straight, saw a game they were winning against Boyd Anderson suspended because of lightning, and players heard plenty of criticism.
But after two consecutive wins, has the tide changed for Deerfield Beach? Running back Brandon Powell, who had 184 yards in a 19-0 win over Blanche Ely on Saturday, thinks so.
“I think it’s going to give us momentum,” he said in a post-game interview.
It’s hard to fault Powell for being confident. The Bucks defense played extremely well, holding Ely to just 87 yards of total offense. And Powell and fellow running back Aeron McNeal combined for 298 yards.
