I recently chatted with Dr. Michael Haley who owns and operates Haley Nutrition/Stockton Aloe 1 in Pompano Beach. The company was founded in 2010.

Dr. Michael is carrying on the work of chemist Rodney M. Stockton by making and distributing a 100% pure raw aloe vera health drink and aloe vera personal care products. Helping people discover the health-promoting benefits of pure, raw Aloe vera is his mission.

When asked what makes Stockton Aloe 1 different from other Aloe vera products, Michael responded, “It is processed much less. Ours has minimal preserving chemicals and we use Aloe where others use water.”

“Some factors in producing the best Aloe are the age of the plant and leaf selection. Age makes a difference in the product’s effectiveness, because more mature leaves have more nutrition in them. Unblemished leaves contain the most Aloe gel. Bruised leaves contain rot.”

Michael is committed to honoring the legacy of Rodney Stockton.

“We continue the product name that was important to him and keep his historical contributions on our website and YouTube channel. Rodney grew the Aloe on the coral reef of Florida until Hurricane Andrew, then moved it to the Dominican Republic which is rich in coral for the mineral content.”

According to the company’s website, the Stockton Aloe history began in 1941, when chemical engineer Stockton suffered severe sunburn while vacationing in Florida. Finding no available product that could soothe the pain and help heal the burn, he began seeking a cure, a search that would soon change his life and his career.

Local residents told him of a Seminole Indian medicine man who relied on a special salve to treat burns, wounds, and intestinal disorders. Stockton collected a sample of the plant from which the salve was derived. He then took it to a prominent botanical gardener, who called it by the traditional name, “Virgin Trinity.” The botanist said the plant was a rare variety of Aloe vera.

This led to Stockton conducting a study of Aloe plants from around the globe. He found none more effective for supporting health and helping heal skin conditions than the Virgin Trinity.

Stockton worked to stabilize the gel. From the gel he introduced a drink in 1951 and an ointment in 1953.

“Our products that contain Aloe vera include a drink, sunscreen and two skin creams,” said Michael. “We also produce products that don’t contain Aloe: A greens powder with digestive enzymes and probiotics and a vegan protein powder.”
