The Palm Beach Zoo & Conservation Society is honoring the Florida Atlantic University men’s basketball team’s milestone playoff wins by offering its students and faculty members half-price general admission through April 3.

Fans anxiously awaiting the Final Four game on Saturday night, when the FAU Owls take on San Diego State in Houston, can take a break from campus to visit the zoo’s resident owls.

FAU’s Boca Raton campus, at 777 Glades Road, was designated a burrowing owl sanctuary in 1971 by the Audubon Society, according to the university. With its proximity to the airport, the campus became home to the owls because of a lack of predators in the area. The university said it decided to adopt the burrowing owl as its mascot because of the bird being “traditionally associated with wisdom and determination.”
