Hope residents of Owl Country had their calendars marked

Wednesday is the first of the final two votes on the stadium, with this one the FAU Board of Trustees meeting at 2 p.m.

And while it has been delayed many times, it looks like the delays are finally over, as a final financing plan has been put together and is up for a vote.

You can see the STADIUM AGENDA ITEM here.

It is 106 pages long.

Some details: Debt not to exceed 44.5 million; 30,000 seats, 1,071 premium club seats, 4,448 priority seats, 16 loge boxes (capacity 6), 20 luxury suites (capacity 23).

All kinds of interesting stuff in there, including a market analysis, historical growth of FAU, comparison of other similar facilities, etc.

The stadium is expected to host 15 events each year: 6 FAU home games, 8 high school games, and 1 special event (like a concert).

The actual cost of hosting a game will go down, from $67,030 at Lockhart, to $32,920 at the new place. Mainly due to rent — FAU now paying $28,500 per game for that place in the Warehouse District of Fort Lauderdale.

Parking will range from $5 to $30, depending on where on campus you park, reserved spot for tailgating will be $15.

Projected annual revenue: $6.9 million. Projected annual debt service: $2.6 million. Total cost of just under $70 million.

Average ticket price is $25.

Theme is “Between The Palms.” Page 93 begins some artists renderings.

Feel free to go through it and add stuff you find. That is what I am doing now, and will update as I go…

FAU has obviously done its homework, and it had to, to satisfy the BOT and BOG.

But the bottom line is this: FAU has come up with a financing plan,. the Board of Trustees should approve it Wednesday, and then it goes to state for the Board of Governors approval on Sept. 16.

Let’s put it this way — there is no way the BOT does not approve this plan. The new prez has given it her full support and made it a priority, so this will be her first big deal as Prez, and the BOT is going to OK this.

And FAU wouldn’t take it to the state unless an OK was guaranteed.

That means the shovels should hit the sand in September, Owl Country, and Owls long-awaited on-campus next will be on its way.

And, yes, I will be at the meeting tomorrow to bring you live updates on what goes down.

Looking forward to witnessing something other than “we just wanted to give you an update of where we are…”

Later…
