A “pop-up” boutique will be popping up at 218 Clematis St. in West Palm Beach, Friday-July 31.

The temporary retail space, open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, will spotlight GlobalFashionBrands.com, the social e-commerce site featuring independent designers, and Farasha Boutique, a women’s retail clothing and accessories pop-up concept with one-of-a-kind investment pieces.

“We’re always looking for fresh, new ways to keep downtown West Palm Beach exciting, and Global Fashion Brands and Farasha Boutique are helping us spice up the summer by bringing in a taste of fashion from other world regions through their twist on the pop-up shop,” said Raphael Clemente, interim director of the West Palm Beach Downtown Development Authority.

The 5100 square foot pop-up boutique — in a space provided by WGCompass Realty Companies and supported by Hyatt Place West Palm Beach and Blue Feather Vodka — will include a Fashion Lounge, curated by Design Within Reach in Downtown West Palm Beach, for guests to relax while receiving style advice. A Beauty Bar will be open Friday-Sunday by The Sanctuary Salon and Spa, offering mini facials, hand and massage treatments.

Iris Apfel is heading to HSN

Iris Apfel, the octogenarian fashionphile who morphed herself from interior designer to moda-muse through sheer will and a dazzling sense of style, will sell a line of jewelry called Rara Avis by Iris Apfel starting in September on the 24-hour shopping network and e-commerce site.

A longtime accessories collector, Apfel has had her fashion adventures chronicled in a very successful traveling gallery exhibit that drew crowds when it landed at the Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach back in 2007 (after wowing them at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York in 2005).

Apfel divides her time between style-isle Palm Beach and Manhattan. She is an icon to the likes of Lindsay Lohan, Ralph Lauren, Anna Sui, Rifat Ozbek and Romeo Gigli (who once did a whole collection inspired by the Met exhibit).

With her husband Carl, Apfel’s textile company and encyclopedic knowledge of fabrics led her into a rarefied orbit that included Greta Garbo, Marjorie Merriweather Post, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Estee Lauder and interior designer Dorothy Draper.

The 13-piece collection will retail between $20 and $180. Rara Avis by Iris Apfel is said to mix modern and vintage design elements and reproduces Apfel’s signature penchant for brightly hued chunky necklaces, bracelets and brooches in Lucite, mixed metals and beaded materials.

Ethiopian supermodel joins L’Oreal Paris

Supermodel Liya Kebede has joined the stable of stars at L’Oreal Paris. The Ethiopian triple threat — model, actress, entrepreneur — is a part of a roster that includes Gwen Stefani, Jennifer Lopez, Julianna Margulies, Freida Pinto, Jane Fonda, Andie MacDowell and Gerard Butler.

Never heard of her? Well, in the fashion world she has been a superstar since being plucked from high school in Addis-Ababa and whisked off to Europe where she became a favorite of Tom Ford when he was at Gucci. In 2007 she created her own line of clothing called Lemlem, which supports artisans in Africa.

Not only has Liya appeared in movies such as “The Good Shepherd” and “Desert Flower,” but she’s also volunteered for the World Health Organization on behalf of neonatal and infant health care. The Liya Kebede Foundation raises money for the Durame Hospital in Ethiopia.

Another Fanning face

Like her older sister Dakota, Elle Fanning is already an A-lister after her star-turn in “Super 8.”

And now she’s also following in Dakota’s footsteps as a model. The 13-year-old is the “face” of Marc by Marc Jacobs’ new fall/winter 2011 collection (that’s the younger, less-expensive line, in case you’re wondering).

You may remember that it was announced last month that Dakota is appearing in the ad campaign for Oh, Lola — a new fragrance from the designer.

Those ads were so highly anticipated that they were leaked last spring. There are worse things for Jacobs than having a marketing campaign go viral before he’s even bought a single page in the fashion glossies.
