Medical director Dr. Marta Rendon was giving tours of her expanded Rendon Center Dermatology & Aesthetic Medicine before crowds arrived at a grand opening and ribbon cutting.
With crystal halo chandeliers in the sleek white waiting room and artwork of classic sculpture with a modern twist in the hallways, Rendon wants to create a certain aesthetic atmosphere for her patients.
“Everything is the circle of life,” she said. “We’ve been waiting to do this open house” at 1001 NW 13th St., Suite 100, in Boca Raton. “We hired architects that specialize in efficiency so the office is designed in pods.”
The center has made private spaces for treatment rooms and surgical suites for a dozen procedures from dermatology and fillers like Botox, to Mohs with a plastic surgeon available, and laser skin care and hair removal treatments. There’s even tattoo removal. The SRT-100 radiotherapy is a noninvasive treatment for nonmelanoma skin cancer. The tour included treatment rooms for vascular lasers, wrinkles and skin tightening, acne, permanent makeup, psoriasis and eczema [light therapy].
With three other doctors, the practice is “growing at least 10 percent a year,” said Rendon. “We’re a key opinion leader and we do education and research” about clinical trials.
That means they’re often the first to use new aesthetic procedures and medications, including Kybella to improve double chins. They test for allergies and analyze moles.
“That helps us if we want to biopsy or not,” she said. “A 3-D camera allows us to see pigment and redness and we decide on the treatment depending on what we see.”
Rendon was head of dermatology at the Cleveland Clinic and has been in practice in Boca for 14 years. She won the Boca Chamber’s Diamond Award for women in business in 2012. And she was just on the selection committee and presented a day of beauty at the Junior League Woman Volunteer of the Year Luncheon & Fashion Show. So she needed the whole parking lot to entertain her invited guests and patients for the open house on Nov. 3.
“What’s really wonderful is the way she guides and improves her patients,” said Jordan Zimmerman, board chairman, Zimmerman Advertising. “She’s a great coach for her team.”
“We’re a very busy practice and we have wrinkle free Fridays and patients can get fillers,” said office manager Rosa Miller, adding, more men are coming in for facials and other procedures, too.
“If you take care of your skin, you look good,” she said.
