Two people were shot during a disagreement, then ran into a nearby Walgreens in Plantation Friday afternoon, authorities say.
One has serious injuries and the other has minor injuries.
Plantation Fire Rescue responded to the Walgreens in the 3800 block of Broward Boulevard about 1:30 p.m., according to Aston Bright, a spokesperson for the fire department. Two male victims were transported to Broward Health as Level 1 trauma alerts, the most serious form of trauma alert.
They were both “awake and alert” when transported, Bright said.
“We don’t know what the situation was, we just know they were shot and they ran into the Walgreens,” Bright said.
The shooting arose out of an altercation between two groups who were known to each other and “possibly involved in criminal activity,” according to Detective Robert Rettig, a spokesperson for Plantation Police.
One of the victims has minor injuries, and the other has serious injuries, Rettig said later Friday afternoon. He did not say whether the people involved were adults or minors, or how many times the victims were shot.
Detectives are investigating the shooting.
