One person is dead after a shooting late Wednesday afternoon in Boynton Beach, according to police.

Few details were immediately available. Officer Holly Picciano, a Boynton Beach Police spokesperson, said officers were still actively investigating the homicide as of about 6:30 p.m.

The shooting happened about 3 p.m. near Interstate 95 between Woolbright Road and Southwest Eighth Street. Only one victim was found, Picciano said. She did not know the victim’s gender or age.

Woolbright Road from the I-95 overpass to Southwest Eighth Street and the southbound I-95 entrance ramp were closed for several hours and reopened by about 8 p.m.

Picciano said anyone with information on the shooting is asked to contact Det. A. Vargas at 561-742-6163.
