Project Runway is three challenges into the season and already the histrionics have started.

“There’s too much drama because there are too many queens,” declared contestant Joe Faris in last week’s episode.

That may be, but it’s fashion. It’s a reality show. It’s on Bravo. If we wanted people quietly sewing, we’d set up a webcam and be done with it.

Local Project-er Kenley Collins said she worries that her own drama – constant giggling and occasional insensitivity – might not show her in the best light after the producers are done editing.

“I don’t know where they find half the people for these shows,” Collins said. “You have to have a strong personality and be comfortable in front of the cameras and be yourself. A lot of people can’t do that.”

Collins insists she is ready for the benefits of reality-show stardom. But the graduate of Westminster Academy and Florida State University was quick to add that she is focused on greater goals.

“I want to show the world what I can do,” Collins said. “And I want doors to open.”

Tonight’s challenge (9 p.m., Bravo) is to design career clothes. Brooke Shields is the guest judge.
