A representative for the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office named Robert Florida stated that the Newark police department was alerted at around 3:16 a.m. today about a gunshot that had been fired in the 600 block of Broadway. This information was provided by the spokesperson. The action took place in Newark, which is located in New Jersey.
The law enforcement officer who discovered Zayas outside in that place saw that he was exhibiting symptoms consistent with having been shot. It was discovered, upon his arrival at 3:51 in the morning at the University Hospital, that he had already left the facility prior to his presence there. He was brought to the local medical facility.
