Bill is in his 39th year at WKYT and has been working as a Kentucky broadcaster for over 40 years. When Bill was 15 years old, he worked for his hometown radio station in Williamsburg.
He worked for the campus newspaper as a news editor while he was still a student at Cumberland. Bill was a charter member of the campus chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists while at EKU. Also, Bill did what was expected to be a “summer internship” in 1984 at WKYT and has never departed.
Throughout his career at WKYT, he has reported on inaugurations, the police beat, and natural disasters. Bill’s primary focus is political coverage and in the mid-1980s he began the “Kentucky Newsmakers” program where he has interviewed different state and national leaders in business and politics, 14 Kentucky governors, and a variety of US Senators.
Furthermore, he has also had a strong voice in editorial matters and was responsible for the news department for a time working as interim news director. Also, Bill works for Kentucky Educational Television as a host of the statewide discussion program ‘Comment on Kentucky’.
Bill is an associate of the Williamsburg High School Hall of Fame and the EKU Hall of Distinguished Alumni and due to his reporting and anchoring, he has been honored by the Associated Press. Recently, the Daughters of the American Revolution awarded him the statewide media award. When Bill is not at the station working, he loves keeping up with friends and family, reading, and working out.
