The results of our first Best of South Florida on-line contest are in.

1. You voted and the best burger in South Florida is the half pound creation at Gilbert’s 17th Street Grill. The Gilbert’s burger starts with simple unadorned Angus beef that’s cooked on a gas grill. The Harbor Shops, 1821 Cordova Road, Fort Lauderale, 954-768-8990, gilberts17thstgrill.com. Open 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Saturday.

2. The number two spot goes to Relish in West Palm Beach. Along with a beef burger, they make veal, bean, wild mushroom, lobster and several other burgers. The 20 house-made relishes are equally important to the burgers here. 401 Northwood Road, West Palm Beach, 561-629-5377, relishburger.com. Open 11 a.m.-10 p.m. daily.

3. Third place goes to Charm City Burger Company in Deerfield Beach. Along with burgers made from a “proprietary steak blend,” look for marinated and grilled chicken wings and desserts such Twinkie Fritters. 1136 E. Hillsboro Blvd. , Deerfield Beach, 954-531-0300, charmcityburgers.com. Open 11 a.m.-9:30 p.m. Sunday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-midnight Friday-Saturday.

I’ll have a bigger story on the winner in Friday’s Showtime section in the Sun Sentinel.

Meantime, what do you think? Did readers get it right?
