An Apex Legends fan created a DPS weapon comparison chart allowing the community to compare their favorite weapons. While weapon preference should be the most important thing, knowing which weapons do what might change your attitude on a few of them. While it doesn't take in factors of environment, situational problems, and accuracy, you can tell which guns do the most if you don't miss a shot.
The problem is you're not facing a standing still target, you are taking damage back and are constantly moving.
Redditor Adanub created the useful list and posted it on the Apex Legends subreddit. You'll see some of the faster firing weapons at the top like the Devotion, L-Star, and R-99. However, you'll akso see the P2020 which can be fired quickly. The Prowler and the Flatline are the first Heavy weapons listed which shows how powerful the Flatline is in the current meta.
At the end of the day, you should choose a weapon you feel comfortable with while moving and firing. The game is chaotic and you'll have plenty of obstacles and things happening around you. It won't be as easy as shooting a dummy or still target, so stick to your favorite weapons and you'll do fine.
