Alexander Emmanuel Rodriquez was born on 27 July 1975 in Manhattan, New York City. He is an American former professional baseball player, businessman, and philanthropist.

He played as a shortstop and third baseman for three Major League Baseball teams; Seattle Mariners, Texas Rangers, and New York Yankees for 22 years.

Rodriquez is a shareholder of Minnesota Timberwolves in the National Basketball Association, the chairman of Presidente beer, and the chairman and CEO of A-Rod Corp.

Rodriquez, regarded as one of the greatest baseball players of all time, did not play collegiate baseball after signing a letter of intent with the University of Miami. He turned professional in 1994 and signed with the Seattle Mariners.

Upon retiring, Alex began a career in media, working for Fox Sports as a broadcaster, and as a cast member on Shark Tank. He hosted the CNBC-produced show Back In the Game which debuted in March 2018.

In 2003, Rodriguez gave $3.9 million to the University of Miami to renovate its baseball stadium.

Lourdes Rodriguez and Victor Rodriguez are the mother and father of Alex Rodriquez respectively.
They are both originally from the Dominican Republic.

Victor was a baseball player who introduced his son to the game at a tender age. He ran a shoe shop in Manhattan. Victor died in 2015.

Lourdes was a secretary at the immigration office during the day and a waitress at night. She had two children before her marriage to Victor.

Victor and Lourdes divorced when Alex was nine years old.
