10 Classic Nickelodeon Cartoons That Should Be Revived on Paramount+

Paramount+ is one of the newest streaming services to enter the ongoing streaming wars and has one big entity that sets it a part in a big way. No, it’s not Yellowstone, but rather a more family friendly option in the form of Nickelodeon. Nickelodeon has always catered to a wide audience and has been rebooting some of its nostalgic properties, mostly live action ones. Double Dare certainly had a big return on Nickelodeon and Legends of the Hidden Temple is reportedly getting revived on CW. Paramount+'s attempts to bring back some classic Nickelodeon cartoons and shows hasn't exactly been met with praise.

While the return of iCarly has been pretty beneficial for the service, their reboots and spinoffs of notable Nicktoons haven’t exactly been praised by fans. Kamp Koral and the upcoming Patrick Star Show are just blatant attempts to milk the last few drops of Spongebob’s worth and Paramount+’s reboot of Rugrats has been widely panned for its unpleasant-looking animation. Not to mention, many haven’t been that excited about a live action Fairly OddParents series that’s reportedly in the works given how that series has been run into the ground. Sure, it’s fine that Paramount+ has a solid selection of classic Nicktoons in their library, but if they’re going to attempt to revive some classics, there are certainly better, more exciting options.

The Wild Thornberrys

It’s actually mind-blowing how there’s no news surrounding a revival of The Wild Thornberrys because it’s literally the perfect kind of series to bring back.

The Wild Thornberry’s return could easily be a great outlet for kids experiencing different cultures, animals, and environments, just like it was when it debuted back in 1998. It’s always been part educational, part a fun ride with a wild family and could hit an incredibly wide audience for the platform. Not to mention, it could provide more Nigel Thornberry memes, and we could all use more of those.

Rocko’s Modern Life

Netflix has already shown that Rocko’s Modern Life could make a modern resurgence with its 2019 animated special Static Cling and Paramount+ should try to capitalize on that success.

Static Cling continued to show Rocko’s Modern Life to be a trendy and progressive series that taps into pivotal hot button topics in funny and inviting ways. A revival of Rocko’s Modern Life could strike a strong chord with a younger audience in providing some relevant material and remain nostalgic in ways that’ll pull older viewers onto the platform.

My Life as a Teenage Robot

My Life as a Teenage Robot was truly ahead of its time being a cross between an anime and superhero show, but with both genres seeing new life in recent years, it could be the perfect time for this cult classic to return.

The return of Jenny the teenage robot fighting against high school hiccups and a vast array of foes would be unbelievably epic and My Life as a Teenage Robot is the kind of cult classic that deserves a revival.

All Grown Up!

Look, it needs to be said. Paramount+ messed up their chance to bring Rugrats back in a great way, but they could find redemption in bringing back its beloved sequel series, All Grown Up!

All Grown Up! sees the infant cast as teenagers trying to navigate high school and while it seemed like a risky choice at first, All Grown Up! ended up being a well-received continuation, so maybe reviving All Grown Up! could be a redemptive effort from Paramount+ to get back in fans’ good graces. If they drop that gross-looking 3-D animation, of course.

Hey Arnold!

Hey Arnold! was that unique kind of animated series that had a moodier tone fitting for its titular football headed protagonist and of the time, so it’s not necessarily necessary for it to be revived. But it would be awesome if it did. Hey Arnold! had some of the most iconic recurring characters.

It would be interesting to see how the city environment of the show would change with modern times and like Rocko’s Modern Life, see how it taps into stories and issues of the modern youth. Again, there’s no reason for Hey Arnold! to return, but it would certainly gain a lot of attention if that news broke.

ChalkZone

ChalkZone is another beloved cult classic Nicktoon that fans would be over the moon to see be revived on Paramount+.

If there was a trailer that popped up that saw Rudy, Penny, and Snap going on new adventures in the Chalkzone, the internet would go nuts for it and has a lot of nostalgic pull and fun visuals that could interest a wide net of viewers onto Paramount+.

Ahh! Real Monsters

Paramount+ has its own weird and wild Monsters University equivalent in their hands with Ahh! Real Monsters and would be making a massive oversight if they didn’t give it a revival.

Ahh! Real Monsters has a perfect blend of comedy and kid-friendly horror that would be beloved in an era where more kid-friendly horror options, like The Addams Family and Goosebumps, are seeing a resurgence.

Invader Zim

Like Rocko’s Modern Life, Invader Zim also got an excellent animated special on Netflix, titled Enter the Florpus, that was absolutely hilarious and cued up the series to possibly return one day.

With the iconic cartoon Ren & Stimpy already getting a revival on Comedy Central, Paramount+ needs the type of zany hilarity that Invader Zim easily offers, and fans would flock to the service, just like they did with Netflix, if news broke that Invader Zim was getting a major revival.

Rocket Power

Fans have been asking for years to see the Rocket Power crew return and Paramount+ could make their wishes come true with a simple revival.

With how much action sports have grown since Rocket Power aired, to the point where skateboarding and surfing have become Olympic sports, it’s actually the perfect time for Rocket Power to return. It could easily gain a wider audience and there really hasn’t been anything like it since so Paramount+ could have a truly unique entity at their disposal.

Danny Phantom

A Danny Phantom revival would be a slam dunk for Paramount+ given the series’ popularity, dedicated fanbase that still remains very vocal about the series, and excellent blend of popular genres. Fans still wonder why Danny Phantom was canceled even though it was hugely popular.

It’s a superhero show with a kid-friendly horror background and as the MCU starts to bring out its horror-centric heroes with an adult tinge, Paramount+ could easily swoop in and scoop up a younger audience, as well as some adult viewers, with the return of Danny Phantom.
